There were no little pink houses in this particular Small Town, but there were plenty of other things to see.
When I left Assategue I was heading towards Delaware to an animal shelter that has some great looking dogs for adoption. Along the way, in a Small Town called Ocean Pines, I saw a Smalltown park with a Veteran memorial. It seemed like a good place to stop and stretch my legs.
I pulled in and parked and saw there was also a lake, with tall pines on the other side and walking path around it. Perfect!
I walked over to the Memorial first, and frankly, it was one of the nicest I've ever seen. A circular path wound through a beautifully landscaped area, with info boards along the way. Tributes and a few statues were in the center. It was very pretty, while somehow remaining quite solemn.
Next I started my walk around the lake. It was hot and humid that day, but a nice breeze blew over the water and there was enough shade to make it bearable. I saw geese with their still fuzzy babies and lots of turtles. All in all, it was a very pleasant Smalltown park.
And then I reached the tall pine area and stopped in my tracks. It was a fairy forest! Everywhere I looked there were little fairy villages set up. They were at the bases of the trees, they were hanging from the trees, they were near the shoreline. Most of them appeared to have been placed by children and they were adorable. I had a great time wandering through and taking pictures. Here are a few of the best ones:
I hope you enjoyed these as much as I did!
